QuickBooks · Zoho Books
Zoho Books is the better value for most Ghanaian SMEs — about GH₵175 a month billed annually for three users versus about GH₵443 for one QuickBooks user. QuickBooks is worth the premium when your accountant or auditor works in it. Neither certifies GRA E-VAT invoices on its own.

Zoho Books at every tier. Multi-currency — essential for Ghanaian importers — starts at about GH₵466 on Zoho Professional versus about GH₵874 on QuickBooks Essentials.
Which handles the 2026 VAT changes?
Both can model VAT 15%, NHIL 2.5% and GETFund 2.5% as recoverable taxes. The key is set-up: post all three as input tax on purchases.
And E-VAT?
Neither ships a GRA E-VAT connector. Use GRA’s free system or an integrator with either.

- Xero works in Ghana as a clean cloud ledger with a large app marketplace, but it has the thinnest local footprint of the global products: no Ghanaian bank feeds, no E-VAT link and multi-currency only on the top plan. Choose it when your accountant or parent company already runs Xero.
- TallyPrime is a strong fit for Ghanaian traders, pharmacies and distributors who move lots of stock, want a one-time licence instead of a dollar subscription, and have a bookkeeper who knows Tally. E-VAT integration and remote access come through Ghanaian partners.
- Zoho Books is the best-value cloud ledger for most Ghanaian SMEs: a real free plan, paid plans from about GH₵175 a month billed annually, three users included, and inventory from Professional. It does not certify GRA E-VAT invoices on its own, so VAT-registered businesses still need GRA’s system or an integrator.
- Business Central is the natural ERP step for Ghanaian distributors, manufacturers and NGOs that have outgrown QuickBooks or Tally: purchasing, inventory, approvals and the ledger in one cloud system. Budget about GH₵932–GH₵1,282 per full user per month at list, plus a partner for the 2026 VAT structure and an E-VAT connector.
- QuickBooks Online is the most requested cloud ledger among Ghanaian accountants who trained on it or serve foreign-owned clients. You pay in dollars, you configure VAT, NHIL and GETFund yourself, and GRA E-VAT certification needs GRA’s own system or a third-party connector. For inventory-heavy traders, TallyPrime or an ERP is the better fit.
- Tyms is an AI-assisted double-entry ledger built in Lagos and available to Ghanaian businesses at $200 per seat per year (about GH₵2,330). It is strongest on catching up and maintaining books from bank and Mobile Money statements; it is not a GRA E-VAT certification system, and its Ghana footprint is smaller than its Nigerian one.
