Flag of IndiaZoho Books

Zoho Books is the rational global cloud ledger for a Nigerian SME that cannot justify QuickBooks list prices. You still configure 7.5% VAT yourself and you still file PAYE somewhere else. The free plan is real; check Zoho’s turnover cap before you promise it to a client.

What it actually is

Zoho Books is a cloud accounting app, not payroll and not an ERP. The strength is price and the rest of Zoho. Nigerian VAT can be modelled; NRS e-invoicing and NTA 2025 PAYE are not what you are buying.

Best for

  • Tech-forward SMEs already in Zoho CRM or Zoho One
  • Startups that need a free or $20 ledger
  • Ecommerce brands that may later need Elite inventory

Not suitable for

  • A payroll bureau
  • A manufacturer that needs Odoo-style MRP
  • A practice standardised on Xero HQ

Local support

Zoho’s Nigeria presence is partner-led. There is no naira SKU on the global pricing page. Lagos implementation shops configure VAT at 7.5% and usually leave PAYE in Excel or a local payroll tool.

Migration notes

QuickBooks-to-Zoho migrations are a chart map plus customer/vendor CSV. Inventory should wait until Professional/Elite. Do not cut over in a VAT month-end.
