Flag of BelgiumOdoo

Odoo is the Nigeria pick when inventory, sales and accounting must share one database. It is the wrong pick if you wanted a cheap ledger. Public pricing is per user in USD; Lagos quotes add localisation. Ask whether the NTA 2025 PAYE bands and NRS invoice XML are in the contract.

Strengths

  • Not African-made
  • Inventory + sales + books
  • Modular apps
  • POS path

What it actually is

Odoo is an ERP. Accounting is one app among inventory, sales, POS and HR. Strength is one database for stock and invoices. Weakness is vanilla tax: NTA 2025 and NRS XML are only as good as the Nigerian implementer you name in the contract.

Best for

  • Distributors and manufacturers
  • Groups replacing three tools with one ERP
  • Teams with a named Odoo partner in Lagos or Abuja

Not suitable for

  • A freelancer who needed Wave
  • A practice that wanted Xero HQ
  • A go-live next week with no implementer

Local support

Nigerian Odoo work is partner-delivered. Vanilla Odoo Online will not know NRS. Budget localisation as a project, not a checkbox.

Migration notes

You migrate processes, not just a trial balance. Inventory cutover is the risk. Keep the old sales system until the first full stock count in Odoo agrees.
